Acne information (FAQ)
Know the Problem

What is Acne?
Acne is a skin disorder. Acne occurs when excess oil (sebum) production combined with dead skin cells clog pores. Bacteria forms in the pores resulting in red inflamed pimples, pus filled whiteheads, or blackheads. There are many different forms of acne, however, acne vulgaris is the most common form. Some people estimate that as many as 80% of teens have some form of acne at one point. Unfortunately, acne is not limited to teens. Millions of adults suffer from some form of acne, and that number is rising.
Is Adult Acne different from Adolescent Acne?
Yes and no. Just like teenage acne, adult acne is caused by clogged pores. However the underlying cause of the blockage is different. Whereas a teenager's pores become clogged because of the excess oil associated with puberty, adult pores are most often clogged by dead skin cells.

To treat adult acne, you must focus on shedding the dead skin cells that trap oil and bacteria. The best long-term answer to treating adult acne is prevention.
Is Rosacea different from Acne?
Yes, Rosacea is a hereditary, chronic skin disorder that most often affects the nose, forehead, cheekbones, and chin. Groups of tiny capillaries and venules close to the surface of the skin become dilated, resulting in blotchy red areas with small papules and pustules. The redness can come and go, but eventually it may become permanent. Furthermore, the skin tissue can swell and thicken and may be tender and sensitive to the touch.

Rosacea was originally called "acne rosacea" because its inflammatory papules and pustules so closely mimic those of acne vulgaris. Unlike acne vulgaris, whose makeup is based on increased sebum production and bacterial-induced inflammation, rosacea's inflammation is vascular in nature and poorly understood.
Are Acne and Rosacea curable?
Unfortunately, they are not. However, with the use of naturally medicated products, like the ones offered by Derma Pro Skin Care, breakouts can be treated, prevented, and controlled.
